LOW VELD - HIGHVELD - KWAZULU NATAL - EASTERN CAPE
summer RAINFALL EDIBLE ECOSYSTEMS
The summer rainfall region of South Africa is mainly found in the eastern part of the country, extending from the Limpopo Province in the north to the Eastern Cape Province in the south. Some of the regions found within this area include:
- Lowveld region: located in the northeastern part of the country, bordering Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
- Highveld region: situated in the central part of the country, covering much of the Gauteng, Free State, and Mpumalanga Provinces.
- KwaZulu-Natal region: located in the southeastern part of the country, covering much of the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
- Eastern Cape region: situated in the southern part of the country, covering much of the Eastern Cape Province.
These regions are characterized by a summer rainfall pattern, with most of the rainfall occurring between October and March. The vegetation in these regions varies from savannah grasslands in the Lowveld to forests and wetlands in the eastern parts of the country.

WINTER RAINFALL EDIBLE ECOSYSTEMS
The winter rainfall region of South Africa is a narrow coastal strip that runs along the southwestern coast of the country, from the Western Cape Province to the Eastern Cape Province.
This region is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, with cool, wet winters and hot, dry summers.
West Coast region: located along the western coast of South Africa, covering parts of the Northern Cape and Western Cape Provinces.
Cape Winelands region: situated inland from the West Coast, covering parts of the Western Cape Province.
Overberg region: located on the southern coast of the Western Cape Province.
Garden Route region: situated along the southeastern coast of South Africa, covering parts of the Western Cape and Eastern Cape Provinces.
These regions are characterized by a winter rainfall pattern, with most of the rainfall occurring between May and August. The vegetation in these regions varies from fynbos shrubland in the Cape Winelands and Overberg to indigenous forests in the Garden Route.
The winter rainfall region is also known for its unique biodiversity and is home to several endemic species of flora and fauna.

2 DAY MUSHROOM FORAGE
The best time for mushroom foraging is typically during the wet and cool months of the year, which are from March to May and September to November. During these months, the temperature and humidity levels are ideal for mushroom growth, and there is often ample rainfall. However this differs per rainfall region in South Africa being blessed with both Summer and Winter Rainfall regions.

2 DAY STRANDLOPER FORAGE IN THE CAPE
The 2-day Strandloper forage in the Cape experience is an immersive and educational experience that takes participants on a journey through the coastal areas of the Western Cape of South Africa.
Throughout the experience, participants will have the opportunity to learn from an experienced forager guide who will share their knowledge and expertise on sustainable and responsible foraging practices. They will also have the chance to connect with the natural environment and gain a deeper appreciation for the importance of preserving and protecting the coastal ecosystems.
